Improving the Image QualityWhen using a scanner, the scanner light is very bright and it is the same intensity all across the page. Also, the page is always flat. This is not the case with taking a picture with the iPhone. The following will improve the quality of the final Black and White image:
- If the piece of paper being photographed is lying flat on a desk, the best results will be obtained if the iPhone is held horizontal, parallel to the piece of paper. If the iPhone is tilted, one end or side of the paper will appear smaller: the end or side furthest away from the camera.
- The picture should be taken in as bright a light as possible. The technology built into Doc2email allows it to extract lot of information from pictures of paper taken is farly low light but the best results will be obtained in a bright light.
- The piece of paper should appear straight in the camera viewfinder. If it is at an angle, Doc2email will straighten it and remove black borders resulting from the paper lying on a wooden or dark desk, but, if the angle is too great, the best results will not be obtained.
If you have to take a picture with the paper at a large angle, it is suggested that you send it in Grayscale.
